If you’re referring to the viral “one cup” peace-lily trick, be careful with claims that a particular homemade liquid will make a struggling plant “bloom like crazy.” There isn’t a magic fertilizer that guarantees flowers.
For a Peace lily , the biggest factors are:
- Bright, indirect light: Insufficient light is one of the most common reasons a peace lily doesn’t flower.
- Consistent watering: Water when the upper portion of the potting mix begins to dry, then let excess water drain. Don’t leave the roots sitting in water.
- Balanced fertilizer: During active growth, a diluted complete houseplant fertilizer can provide nutrients. More fertilizer isn’t better and can damage roots.
- Warm temperatures and humidity: Avoid cold drafts and very dry conditions.
- Repotting when necessary: A severely root-bound or poorly draining plant may struggle.
What about the “one cup” ingredients?
