If you have visible veins, it means you are… See more

If you’re finishing the headline “If you have visible veins, it means you are…”, the answer isn’t necessarily anything alarming.

Visible veins can simply mean you have less body fat, naturally prominent superficial veins, thinner skin, or increased blood flow from exercise or heat. Genetics also plays a major role.

They can become more noticeable with age as skin becomes thinner, too.

However, a sudden change is different. A newly prominent vein accompanied by swelling, pain, redness, warmth, or tenderness—especially in one leg or arm—should be medically evaluated, because circulation problems or a blood clot can sometimes cause these symptoms.

So visible veins alone don’t prove that you’re dehydrated, vitamin-deficient, unhealthy, or “toxic.” The context and any accompanying symptoms matter.
