❤️ If You Suspect a Heart Attack, Do This Immediately
The viral claim that a 10-second trick can stop a heart attack is misleading. There is no breathing technique, cough, drink, or other home remedy that can reliably stop a heart attack.
What to do right away
-
Call your local emergency medical service immediately. Don’t wait to see whether the symptoms disappear.
-
Stop what you’re doing and sit or lie somewhere safe.
-
Unlock your door if you’re alone and keep your phone nearby.
-
If you have prescribed nitroglycerin, use it according to your doctor’s instructions.
-
Ask the emergency dispatcher about aspirin. It can be appropriate for some suspected heart attacks, but not for everyone.
-
If the person becomes unresponsive and isn’t breathing normally, start CPR and use an AED if available.
🚨 Symptoms to take seriously
A heart attack may cause:
-
Pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain in the chest
-
Pain or discomfort spreading to the arm, shoulder, back, neck, or jaw
-
Shortness of breath
-
Cold sweating
-
Nausea or vomiting
-
Dizziness or unusual weakness
Symptoms aren’t always dramatic, and some people may have little or no obvious chest pain.
The real lifesaving “10-second action” is to activate emergency help immediately. Don’t drive yourself if emergency medical transport is available.
