Drop a whole bone-in chicken thigh pack into the slow cooker with 4 other ingredients and get a supper so good your mother-in-law won’t believe it cost under $10.

🍗 5-Ingredient Slow-Cooker Chicken Thighs

A budget-friendly, comforting dinner with tender chicken and a flavorful sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pack bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 2½–3 lb)
  • 1 can (10½ oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 lb baby potatoes, halved

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken thighs in the slow cooker.
  2. Add the potatoes around the chicken.
  3. Whisk together the cream of chicken soup, onion soup mix, and chicken broth, then pour over everything.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is tender and reaches at least 165°F (74°C) internally.
  5. If you want crispier skin, transfer the cooked thighs to a baking sheet and broil for a few minutes until browned.

Serve the chicken with the potatoes and spoon the creamy sauce over everything.

Budget tip: Prices vary considerably by location, so the “under $10” claim isn’t guaranteed—but bone-in chicken thighs are often one of the more economical cuts.
