The dark circle around a faucet is usually caused by hard-water mineral deposits, soap scum, mold, or dirt trapped around the base. You can often remove it with simple household ingredients.

1. White vinegar — for hard-water stains

  • Soak a soft cloth in white vinegar.

  • Wrap it around the stained area for 10–15 minutes.

  • Wipe gently with a soft toothbrush and rinse well.

Avoid vinegar on natural stone, marble, or acid-sensitive finishes.

2. Baking soda — for stubborn dirt

  • Mix a little baking soda with water to make a paste.

  • Gently rub the stain with a soft cloth.

  • Rinse and dry thoroughly.

Test first on a hidden spot; baking soda can scratch delicate finishes.

3. Black mold around the faucet base

If the dark circle is in the silicone sealant, clean it with a suitable bathroom mold cleaner according to its label. If the black staining is embedded in the silicone, the sealant may need replacing.

Important: Never mix vinegar with bleach or other cleaning products. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh chemicals that could damage the faucet finish.
