If you’ve heard that “one vitamin opens blood vessels and improves circulation,” the vitamin most often being referred to is niacin (vitamin B3).
Niacin can cause vasodilation and skin flushing, creating a temporary warm or tingling sensation. However, that does not mean it is a proven treatment for poor circulation or a way to prevent heart attacks and strokes. Current cardiovascular guidance does not recommend taking niacin routinely for cardiovascular protection; clinical trials have not shown additional cardiovascular benefit when added to appropriate statin therapy. High-dose niacin can also cause significant side effects, including flushing, liver problems, and increased blood sugar. American College of Cardiology
So, don’t take high-dose niacin specifically to “open your blood vessels” unless your clinician recommends it. If you’re experiencing cold feet/hands, leg pain when walking, numbness, or other circulation symptoms, the underlying cause should be evaluated.
