Put 2 drops in your ear and you will hear like before. Recover your hearing.

If you’re referring to the viral claim that “2 drops in your ear will restore your hearing,” don’t rely on it. There is no universal ear drop that can restore hearing loss.

What causes hearing loss matters:

  • Earwax blockage: Certain over-the-counter earwax-softening drops can help when wax is the cause, but they won’t treat other types of hearing loss.
  • Ear infection: May require medical treatment rather than random drops.
  • Inner-ear or nerve-related hearing loss: Ear drops generally cannot reverse it.
  • Sudden hearing loss: This is particularly important. A sudden decrease in hearing, especially in one ear, can be an emergency and should be assessed promptly because early treatment can matter.

Don’t put homemade liquids or oils in your ear

Avoid putting hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, vinegar, oils, or “natural” remedies into the ear unless a healthcare professional has advised you to do so. Don’t use drops if you may have a perforated eardrum, ear tubes, significant ear pain, or drainage without medical advice.

If your hearing has recently become muffled, tell me whether it’s one or both ears, whether it happened suddenly or gradually, and whether you have pain, ringing, dizziness, or earwax, and I can help you figure out what the safest next step is.
