If your veins are visible in your hand, it is a signal of ca… See

If you’re referring to the viral headline “If the veins in your hands are visible, it’s a sign of cancer,” that claim is misleading.

Visible hand veins are usually normal, particularly with:

  • Aging, as skin becomes thinner and there is less tissue covering the veins

  • Low body fat or recent weight loss

  • Exercise or physical activity

  • Hot weather, which causes veins to widen

  • Genetics

Visible veins alone are not a recognized warning sign of cancer.

When it deserves medical attention

Have a clinician evaluate a new or rapidly changing vein pattern if it’s accompanied by unexplained weight loss, persistent swelling, a lump, significant pain, or other concerning symptoms.

Sudden swelling, redness, warmth, or pain in one arm should be assessed promptly because a blood clot or another vascular problem can cause these symptoms.

If you send me the rest of the headline after “signal of ca…”, I can explain what condition it is actually referring to and how credible the claim is.
