The “M” in your palm: what does it mean?
You may have seen claims that a clearly visible letter “M” formed by the lines in your palm means you’re intuitive, honest, wealthy, destined for success, or unusually perceptive.
That idea comes from palmistry, a traditional form of fortune-telling—not from medical or scientific research.
The “M” is usually said to be formed by several natural palm creases, including the heart line, head line, life line, and fate line. Since palm creases vary naturally from person to person, some people happen to have a pattern that resembles an M.
What science says
There is no scientific evidence that having an M-shaped pattern predicts personality, intelligence, wealth, relationships, or future events. Palm lines primarily reflect the way the skin folds and moves, and their patterns are influenced by anatomy and development.
So if you have an “M” on your palm, it’s an interesting feature—but it doesn’t have a proven special meaning.
