Bananas won’t spoil in just a few days; with this method,

🍌 Bananas Won’t Spoil as Quickly With This Simple Method

If you’re trying to slow down banana ripening, one of the easiest methods is to wrap the stems.

How to do it

  1. Separate the bananas from the bunch.
  2. Wrap the stem/crown of each banana tightly with a small piece of plastic wrap.
  3. Keep them at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat.
  4. Once they reach your preferred ripeness, put them in therefrigerator to slow further ripening. The peel may turn dark, but the inside can remain good for several more days.

The reason this can help is that bananas naturally produce ethylene, a plant hormone that promotes ripening. Covering the stem can reduce the amount of ethylene reaching the surrounding fruit.

Tip: Don’t seal unripe bananas in an airtight container, and don’t expect the method to guarantee a specific number of extra days. Temperature and the bananas’ initial ripeness make a big difference.
