🚨 “A Month Before a Stroke”: 10 Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore

The viral claim that your body reliably warns you one month before a stroke is misleading. A stroke can occur suddenly, without weeks of warning.

However, some people experience a transient ischemic attack (TIA) before a major stroke. A TIA causes temporary stroke-like symptoms and is a medical emergency—not something to wait out.

10 warning symptoms

  1. Sudden weakness or numbness, especially on one side of the body.
  2. Facial drooping or an uneven smile.
  3. Sudden trouble speaking or finding words.
  4. Difficulty understanding speech or instructions.
  5. Sudden vision loss or blurred/double vision.
  6. Sudden dizziness or loss of balance.
  7. Sudden difficulty walking or coordinating movements.
  8. Sudden severe headache with no obvious explanation.
  9. Sudden confusion or disorientation.
  10. Sudden difficulty swallowing, particularly when accompanied by other neurological symptoms.

⏱️ The key point: don’t wait a month

If these symptoms appear—even if they completely disappear after a few minutes—seek emergency medical attention immediately. A TIA can be a warning that a major stroke is coming, and early treatment can reduce the risk.

Remember BE FAST:

  • B — Balance: sudden loss of balance
  • E — Eyes: sudden vision changes
  • F — Face: facial drooping
  • A — Arms: weakness or numbness
  • S — Speech: speech problems
  • T — Time: call emergency medical services immediately

If symptoms are happening right now, don’t wait for them to improve and don’t drive yourself to the hospital. Note the exact time the symptoms began and seek emergency care.
