🧄 Garlic Pancakes Without Yeast
These savory pancakes are crispy on the outside, soft inside, and packed with garlic flavor. No yeast and no long rising time required.
Ingredients
-
2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
-
¾ cup (180 ml) warm water, approximately
-
3–4 cloves garlic, finely minced
-
2 tablespoons chopped green onions or coriander
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
½ teaspoon baking powder
-
2 tablespoons cooking oil, plus more for frying
-
½ teaspoon black pepper or chili flakes, optional
Method
-
Make the dough: Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add warm water and knead until you have a soft, smooth dough. Add a little more water if necessary.
-
Rest: Cover and let the dough rest for 15–20 minutes. No yeast or rising is needed.
-
Prepare the garlic filling: Mix the minced garlic, green onions/coriander, pepper, and 1 tablespoon of oil.
-
Roll: Divide the dough into 4–6 pieces. Roll each piece into a thin circle.
-
Add garlic: Spread a thin layer of the garlic mixture over the dough. Roll it up tightly into a log, then coil the log into a spiral. Flatten and roll it out again.
-
Cook: Heat a lightly oiled skillet over medium heat. Cook each pancake for about 2–3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until golden brown and crisp.
-
Serve: Cut into wedges and serve hot with yogurt, raita, chutney, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Tip: For extra-crispy pancakes, roll the dough quite thin and use a little oil while cooking.
