This natural and effective remedy for relieving constipation

🌿 A Natural Way to Relieve Constipation

For occasional constipation, simple measures often work well. There’s no single “miracle” natural remedy, but fiber, fluids, and regular movement are good starting points.

Try these options

  1. Prunes or prune juice 🍑
Prunes contain fiber and sorbitol, which can help draw water into the bowel and stimulate bowel movements. Start with a small serving rather than consuming a large amount at once.
  2. Increase fiber gradually 🌾
Fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains, and foods such as kiwi or pears can help. Increase fiber slowly to reduce gas and bloating.
  3. Drink adequate fluids 💧
Fiber works better when you’re adequately hydrated. Don’t force excessive amounts of water.
  4. Move regularly 🚶
Walking and other regular physical activity can help stimulate bowel function.
  5. Don’t ignore the urge 🚽
Give yourself enough time to use the toilet, preferably at a consistent time each day. A small footstool under your feet can make the position more comfortable.

What about homemade remedies?

Be cautious with viral recipes involving baking soda, large amounts of oil, vinegar, or herbal “detox” mixtures. They aren’t necessary for ordinary constipation and can cause side effects.

🚨 When constipation needs medical attention

Seek medical advice if constipation is new and persistent, repeatedly recurring, or accompanied by blood in the stool, unexplained weight loss, persistent abdominal pain, vomiting, fever, or a major change in bowel habits.

If you have severe abdominal pain, significant vomiting, a swollen abdomen, and cannot pass stool or gas, seek urgent medical care.
