New method: colonoscopy will no longer be an invasive examination. (1/2)

If you’re referring to a claim that a new method makes colonoscopy non-invasive, the wording is potentially misleading.

Traditional colonoscopy still involves inserting a flexible camera through the rectum to examine the colon. However, there are non-invasive or less-invasive alternatives, such as:

  • CT colonography (“virtual colonoscopy”) — uses CT imaging rather than an inserted camera, but bowel preparation is still generally required.

  • Stool-based tests — look for blood or abnormal DNA in stool; they don’t visualize the colon directly.

  • Capsule endoscopy — involves swallowing a small camera capsule, although it has limitations and isn’t a complete replacement for conventional colonoscopy in every situation.

If you share part 2 of the claim, I can explain exactly what the “new method” is and whether the claim is accurate.
