That claim is not medically accurate. You cannot safely “clean 15 kilograms of waste” from your colon overnight, and your colon does not normally contain anything close to that amount of retained waste.
What actually happens
The colon naturally moves stool toward the rectum, and bowel movements vary considerably between people. Colon cleanses, detox drinks, laxatives, or enemas aren’t necessary for routine “detoxification.” They can cause dehydration, electrolyte abnormalities, diarrhea, and—in some circumstances—bowel injury.
If you’re constipated, safer approaches include:
-
Drink adequate fluids.
-
Gradually increase dietary fiber through vegetables, fruit, legumes, and whole grains.
-
Stay physically active.
-
Establish a regular bathroom routine and don’t repeatedly ignore the urge to go.
-
If these measures aren’t enough, ask a pharmacist or clinician about an appropriate constipation treatment.
Seek medical care promptly for severe or persistent abdominal pain, vomiting, significant abdominal swelling, blood in the stool, unexplained weight loss, or inability to pass stool or gas.
