A Simple Trick to Clean Your Oven Door Glass ✨
Greasy, cloudy oven-door glass can make even a clean kitchen look messy. Fortunately, you can often remove baked-on residue without reaching for harsh chemical cleaners.
🧽 What you’ll need
- Baking soda
- A small amount of dish soap
- Warm water
- A soft sponge or microfiber cloth
- A plastic scraper or old card for stubborn spots
Step-by-step
- Make sure the oven is completely cool.
Never clean hot oven glass with cold water or cleaning mixtures. - Make a cleaning paste.
Mix several tablespoons of baking soda with a little water and a small drop of dish soap until you have a spreadable paste. - Apply it to the glass.
Spread a thin layer over greasy or baked-on areas. Avoid getting the mixture into the oven’s vents, seals, or electrical components. - Let it sit.
Leave the paste for about 15–30 minutes so it can loosen the residue. - Gently scrub.
Use a non-abrasive sponge or microfiber cloth. For stubborn deposits, carefully use a plastic scraper rather than a metal blade. - Wipe everything away.
Use a clean, damp cloth several times to remove all traces of the paste. - Dry and polish.
Finish with a dry microfiber cloth for a clearer, streak-free shine.
⚠️ A few important precautions
Check your oven’s manufacturer’s instructions before removing the inner glass panel or using any cleaning product. Don’t mix different chemical cleaners, particularly bleach with ammonia- or acid-based products.
Also avoid abrasive powders, steel wool, or aggressive scraping that could scratch the glass.
✨ Tip: Cleaning small splashes soon after the oven has cooled is much easier than allowing layers of grease to build up over time.
