How to Clean Dirty Pots and Pans Naturally

How to Clean Dirty Pots and Pans Naturally

You can clean most greasy or food-stained cookware with simple household ingredients, without harsh chemical cleaners.

🧽 For everyday dirt and grease

You’ll need:

  • 2–3 tablespoons baking soda
  • A little dish soap
  • Warm water
  • A soft sponge

Steps:

  1. Let the cookware cool.
  2. Remove loose food and rinse.
  3. Sprinkle baking soda over the dirty areas.
  4. Add a few drops of dish soap and enough warm water to make a paste.
  5. Leave it for 15–30 minutes.
  6. Gently scrub with a non-abrasive sponge.
  7. Rinse well and dry.

🔥 For burnt-on food

  1. Cover the burnt area with water.
  2. Add 2–3 tablespoons of baking soda.
  3. Bring the water to a gentle simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Turn off the heat and let it cool.
  5. Loosen the residue with a wooden or silicone utensil.
  6. Wash normally.

🍋 What about vinegar?

Vinegar can help dissolve mineral deposits and some grime, but don’t expect vinegar and baking soda together to be more powerful—they react with each other and largely neutralize one another. It’s usually better to use them separately for different cleaning jobs.

Important: Avoid abrasive scrubbing on nonstick cookware. For cast iron, don’t soak it for long periods; dry it immediately and apply a thin layer of cooking oil afterward.
