This natural and effective remedy for relieving constipation

If you’re referring to a viral post claiming a “natural and effective remedy” for constipation, one of the better-supported options is prunes (dried plums) or prune juice.

🌿 A simple approach

  • Eat a small serving of prunes, or drink a modest amount of prune juice.

  • Drink adequate water throughout the day.

  • Gradually increase dietary fiber from vegetables, fruit, beans, lentils, and whole grains.

  • Regular walking or other physical activity can help bowel movements.

  • Try going to the toilet at a regular time, particularly after a meal, and don’t repeatedly ignore the urge.

Prunes can help because they provide fiber and sorbitol, a naturally occurring sugar alcohol that can draw water into the bowel.

Don’t rely on “detox” recipes

Lemon water, baking soda, vinegar, or herbal mixtures aren’t necessary to “flush” constipation away. Some strong herbal laxatives can cause cramping, dehydration, or electrolyte disturbances if used improperly.

If constipation is persistent or suddenly changes, or you have severe abdominal pain, vomiting, blood in the stool, fever, or unexplained weight loss, seek medical advice rather than treating it solely at home.
