Clear your throat and lungs of mucus with this recipe – just 2 ingredients

🌿 “Clear Your Throat and Lungs of Mucus With Just 2 Ingredients”

There isn’t a two-ingredient recipe that can literally “clean” mucus out of your lungs. Your airways naturally produce mucus and have mechanisms for clearing it. However, a simple drink can soothe an irritated throat and make coughing more comfortable.

🍯 A simple two-ingredient option

Honey + warm water

  • 1–2 teaspoons honey

  • 1 cup warm water

Stir and sip slowly. Honey may help soothe the throat and reduce coughing, but it isn’t a treatment that removes mucus from the lungs.

Never give honey to a child under 1 year old.

Other measures that can help

  • Drink adequate fluids.

  • Use a clean humidifier if the air is dry.

  • A warm shower can temporarily loosen thick secretions.

  • Saline nasal spray or rinse can help when postnasal drip is contributing to throat mucus.

  • Avoid smoking, vaping, and secondhand smoke.

If mucus persists for several weeks, keeps returning, or is accompanied by wheezing, have the underlying cause evaluated.

🚨 Seek urgent medical attention for significant difficulty breathing, chest pain, coughing up blood, blue/gray lips, severe weakness, or confusion.
