That claim is false and highly exaggerated.
Bay leaf vs. Botox
-
Bay leaf is not 100,000 times stronger than Botox. There is no credible clinical evidence supporting such a comparison.
-
Bay leaf cannot erase wrinkles, including wrinkles in someone aged 70.
-
Botox (botulinum toxin) works by temporarily reducing activity in specific facial muscles. Its effects are clinically studied and administered in controlled doses by qualified professionals.
-
Bay leaf contains plant compounds with antioxidant properties, but that does not mean applying it to skin produces a Botox-like effect.
If you see a “bay leaf wrinkle recipe”
Be cautious about recipes involving concentrated bay-leaf extracts, essential oils, lemon juice, or other irritating ingredients. Applying them to facial skin can cause irritation, allergic reactions, or burns, particularly around the eyes.
For evidence-based wrinkle care, daily broad-spectrum sunscreen, moisturizer, and a topical retinoid when appropriate have substantially more evidence than homemade bay-leaf treatments.
