Two revealing things to
observe are:
- How they treat people who can’t benefit them — especially service workers, strangers, or someone who has less power than they do. Kindness without an expectation of reward says a lot.
- How they behave when they don’t get what they want — disappointment is normal; contempt, manipulation, cruelty, or blaming everyone else can reveal much more about character.
A person’s true character is usually clearer through consistent behavior over time than through words or one isolated incident.
