What’s the Small Round Hole on Your Nail Clipper For?

That small round hole near the end of many nail clippers is usually there for a practical reason: it can be used to attach the clipper to a key ring, lanyard, or small chain so it doesn’t get lost.

Depending on the particular design, the hole may also be part of the manufacturing/assembly mechanism, rather than having a separate user function.

So, if your clipper has a little hole at the opposite end from the cutting jaws, it generally isn’t meant for cutting or sharpening anything—it’s an attachment point.
